We’re really sad to hear the fate of Carillion following the recent announcement of its collapse. This is a devastating blow for the employees, the industry and the economy as the catastrophic impact will affect so many for some time.
The construction industry in the UK has been through major ups and downs over the years. At GD Chalmers, we have ridden the storm with many others. Thankfully, we have went from strength to strength which we owe to our loyal and hard-working staff and the partnerships we have developed over the years.
There have been countless articles written on the subject about why this has happened, predictions about the future and assumptions on what's going to happen next. We were inspired to see what we can do to help after we came across an article on the Construction News website written by the Chief Executive of the Lighthouse Construction Charity with the following title:
Hit by Carillion? Help is here for you
This article addresses the need to offer support to those affected by the collapse and it’s prompted us to see what we can do to help. First of all, we wanted to extend our support to all those affected and hope the employees in all roles find secure employment as soon as possible. With that in mind, we wanted to announce that if there are any Electricians (Qualified or Apprentice’s) that are looking to secure new opportunities then please get in touch.

We are recruiting for Electricians to support us in the delivery of electrical upgrades for social housing contracts that we are working on over the next two years and in-light of the news at Carillion we would like to invite applications from individuals currently working on their apprenticeships at any stage of their qualification.
